I have an original Ford nos wood battery case, and an original Ford hard rubber battery case, that both fit in my battery box. I had to make a couple of brackets to support the lid on top of the modern battery, but that wasn't too difficult. I use an original Ford top, and ground strap and a sleeve on the positive cable. I finally got a local sheet metal guy to make them EXACTLY like the original, and now I'm happy. If you are going to reproduce a part, do it right. I bought a reproduction battery box once, and promptly discarded it, because an original Ford battery would not fit! This is why I dislike reproductions so much. The 5150-B battery box frame assembly is original to my car. I only have a grommet on the positive cable but I do have a short negative cable instead of a strap and I also have a reproduction box 5158 and top 5159, which is very nice. You must have a repro battery box, because the originals won't work without a little help! For the positive cable, they used a sleeve, but I guess you could call it a grommet. Did Ford have a part number for one? I personally don't think they used one since the whole battery box is grounded anyway.
