While the colorful Hotshot Racing is reminiscent of an expiration time game, it doesn’t have an exciting level design that would make many retro riders so memorable. The title, developed by Lucky Mountain Games (using Sumo Digital’s competition champions), reflects the retro racing atmosphere in many ways. Hotshot Racing plays arcade-style racing games from the 90s with a pick-up-and-play control system and angular, low-polygon graphic aesthetics. Insanely cool to watch and just as fun to play, Horizon Chase Turbo is a PC racing game that should be in your library. The graphics dance between pastel colors and cool neon embellishments, depending on whether you are driving day or night. Horizon Chase Turbo is a beautiful game, though not immediately recognizable as such because of its flat, polygonal art style reminiscent of 90s racing games (but without floss, cut, and other time-consuming visual elements). The most important catch in the racing game released by Aquiris Game Studio is the graphics. Horizon Chase Turbo is a simple game that focuses on leveling, weaving between competing vehicles, and a unique game angle: collect gas cylinders so you don’t run out of fuel. Somehow, despite its abandoned aesthetics, Horizon Chase Turbo has enough charm to prevent it from reaching this hacking category. It’s easy to be cynical about something nostalgic for because there are so many features of pop culture for quick money.
